Moving Teens Down Positive Pathways

What do you get when you mix over 175 teens and parents, dynamic speakers, food, music and water? Why--Teen Summit Positive Pathways, of course!

In honor of Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Month, Durham Coalition on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, (DCAPP), Together Everyone Accomplishes Something, (TEAS), Welcome Baby, and the United Way, sponsored this all-day event on May 20 at the Edison-Johnson Recreation Center. The honorable Howard Clement III of Durham City Council commenced the summit.

Teens and parents eagerly attended sessions on suicide prevention, gang awareness, substance abuse prevention, building self esteem, STD prevention, dressing for success, abstinence and pregnancy prevention. Facilitators were among the finest in the state. Positive Pathways concluded with a pool party featuring D.J. Brian Dawson of K-97.5.
