Who We Are

The Partnership for a Healthy Durham is a coalition of local organizations and community members, with the goal of collaboratively improving the physical, mental, and social health and well-being of Durham's residents.  The Partnership has eight committees that each focus on a Durham County health priority and are led by our Steering committee.  There are currently 230 active members in the Partnership.

The Partnership is the certified Healthy Carolinians program for Durham County. Healthy Carolinians is North Carolina's statewide network of partnerships that address health and safety issues at the community level. They created a set of health promotion objectives for 2010 that form the agenda for all local programs. At the same time, the Partnership also acts as the Health work-group for the Durham City and County's Results-Based Accountability (RBA) or Imagine Durham initiative. Imagine Durham was designed to strategically improve the quality of life of the community through nine priority areas, of which health is one. With community work-groups, the program measures positive, accountable change through Community Report Cards.

The Partnership for a Healthy Durham has been housed at the Durham County Health Department since 2004. Individual committees meet monthly to work toward their action items and the full Partnership for a Healthy Durham (all committees) meets quarterly to share information across committees. Each committee's action plans, data, and calendar of activities are available on this website.
