About Us

The Partnership for a Healthy Durham is a coalition of agencies, organizations, community members, and leaders. Our vision is that the people of Durham enjoy good physical, mental, and social health and well-being, and we have created a set of goals and action plans to collaboratively achieve that vision.

The Partnership is a certified Healthy Carolinians program. Healthy Carolinians is North Carolina's statewide network of partnerships that address health and safety issues at the community level. They created a set of health promotion objectives for 2010 that form the agenda for all local programs.

The Partnership also acts as the health work-group for the Durham City and County's Results-Based Accountability initiative. This program has eight priority areas for the community, of which health is one. With community work-groups, the program measures positive, accountable change through Community Report Cards.

The Partnership for a Healthy Durham has been housed at the Durham County Health Department since 2004. Committees meet monthly and quarterly to share information and work towards their objectives. Their action plans, data, and calendar of activities are available on this website.

Join the Partnership! We're always interested in having more people collaborate on our objectives and activities. Read more about our recent work in our 2006 newsletter, or about our structure and philosophy in our orientation.
